UNIT: World War I American Homefront (Starting 3/25)


This is our unit plan.  Under the unit plan is a brief outline of what we do in class each day.

Learning Targets for the Unit:
I CAN…debate U.S. neutrality at the beginning of World War I and explain why the U.S. became militarily involved.
I CAN…explain the impact World War I had on America and various groups of Americans.
I CAN…identify propaganda techniques and mediums and analyze their use and effectiveness during World War I.
I CAN…predict the impact the Treaty of Versailles will have on the world and infer how that might have been different if Wilson’s Fourteen Points had been used for peace.
I CAN...explain the impact the Influenza Epidemic of 1918 had on American and World History.
I CAN...connect events surrounding the Influenza Epidemic of 1918 to contemporary health concerns.

Why did people at this time call The Great War (WWI) “The War to End All Wars”?
When/why should a nation go to war?
When should a citizens freedoms be limited?
